Russell, Bertrand
   In The Occupation, by David Caute, a wife says sarcastically to her husband: ‘It’s a wonderful feeling to be married to Jean-Paul Sartre and Bertrand Russell.’ She is implying that he is as distinguished a philosopher and writer as those two famous philosopher/writers combined. A moment later she says to him: ‘Don’t shout at me, Bertrand Russell.’ Lord Russell’s name would perhaps not usually be transferred in this way, but the speaker knows in this case that the person addressed will understand exactly what she means.
